About The Position

Ackley Hartnett, part of R-V Industries, specializes in customized feeding, positioning, and vision inspection systems for tablets, caplets, capsules, LCTs, and confections, as well as offset rotogravure ink printing machines and laser drilling and marking machines. The Laser Engraver Setup / Operator programs, sets up, and operates a laser engraver; plans and carries out machining processes; selects power settings; and engraves, deburrs, and inspects parts to drawing specifications. The role includes laser cutting, marking, or engraving a variety of materials, including stainless steel, aluminum, and plastic, and performing preventive maintenance. This is considered a safety-sensitive job. The position requires everyday repetitive hand, wrist, or finger movements, standing, walking, bending, crouching, stooping, and lifting 25–50 pounds, as well as exposure to moving machinery, dust, dirt, grease, or other disagreeable elements. Candidates must pass a pre-employment physical and be able to perform essential job functions with or without accommodation.

Requirements

• Demonstrated safety awareness and training in a manufacturing environment.
• At least 2 years of experience as a machinist.
• Strong time-management skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment with management and engineering.
• Experience using hand and power tools.
• Self-motivated, with the ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong drawing-reading skills and understanding of GD&T.
• Strong measuring and inspection skills.
• Understanding of speeds and feeds and their relationship to materials.
• Ability to take direction and constructive criticism.
• High school diploma or GED and/or machining certificates.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without accommodation.
• Able to perform repetitive wrist, hand, or finger movements involving gripping and wrist torquing; stand, walk, bend, crouch, and stoop daily; and lift 25–50 pounds daily.
• Able to work with exposure to moving machinery, dust, dirt, grease, or other disagreeable elements.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate a laser engraver.
• Program and edit machine programs.
• Plan and think through the complete machining process.
• Select and set all power settings.
• Engrave, deburr, and inspect parts to drawing specifications.
• Laser cut, mark, and/or engrave a variety of materials, including stainless steel, aluminum, and plastic.
• Perform machine maintenance according to preventive maintenance instructions.
