About The Position

The Laser Cleanroom Laboratory Operator maintains a contamination-controlled environment for laser-based operations and performs technical laser laboratory and cleanroom work to support the safety, quality, and reliability of laser component boards and associated systems. The role follows detailed shop processes and assembly instructions and works closely with engineering staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as a U.S. GED) or vocational/technical education in a related discipline.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience operating laser-based manufacturing, ablation, or micromachining equipment.
  • Prior cleanroom experience in semiconductor, microelectronics, or precision-assembly environments.
  • U.S. citizenship is required because only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under the program or contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with plasma cleaning, underfill dispensing systems, and vacuum-assisted fill processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed work instructions, engineering drawings, and process documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated capability in fine-feature visual inspection under microscopes.
  • Experience with part traceability systems, serialized hardware, or manufacturing execution systems (MES).
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate effectively with an engineering team.
  • Knowledge of basic metrology tools such as profilometers, thickness gauges, and microscopes.
  • Ability to handle multiple workflows simultaneously while maintaining high quality and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Perform underfill preparation and dispensing, oven curing, IPA testing, and final cosmetic and mechanical inspection of completed assemblies.
  • Manage readiness and expiration compliance of CP and underfill materials; prepare syringe tips and dispenser tooling, confirming the appropriate tools, sizes, and settings.
  • Carry out the laser-processing workflow for substrates, including initial setup, ablation, and inspection.
  • Perform manhole-cover ablation and removal, followed by pad cleaning and preparation for sputter processing.
  • Perform cleanup ablation and test-pad ablation, and visually inspect work to verify drill and fill quality against engineering requirements.
  • Execute the two-pass CP fill process, including plasma cleaning, CP application, vacuum-assisted fill, planarization, curing, and final verification.
  • Manage part flow between laser, vacuum chamber, oven, and sputter operations while maintaining documentation, traceability, and serial-number control.
