About The Position

Operates the large extruders, ILA, filler and rework lines on an as needed basis to eliminate machine downtime and increase efficiency. This role involves reviewing set up sheets and product codes to determine product to be manufactured, machine adjustments, setup and material requirements. The operator will monitor product runs closely by measuring and inspecting against quality standards, and set up and run product on ILA, large extruders (2 and 3 inch), strander, filler and rework lines as workload and staffing levels necessitate. The position also includes printing to cables accurately using jet and mechanical printers, filling, emptying and monitoring material dryers, and operating the rework line per production requirements for reworks and remakes, which may include washing, reprinting, stripping jackets and armor, and respooling cables. The operator is responsible for correctly completing all documentation specific to the job functions, promoting OCC’s service excellence and quality, and championing OCC’s mission, vision and values. The role requires effective interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills, and the ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
1 – 2 years preferred experience in machine operating (including set-up and troubleshooting)
Effective interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills
Must successfully complete orientation and competency validation for position
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to review specifications, set up, run and monitor a machine in a production environment.
Demonstrated ability to use tools and measuring devices properly.
Ability to read and follow basic instructions.
Ability to understand and implement quality procedures.
Math and handwriting skills required and the ability to correctly complete all documentation.
Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
Pay close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately and recognize and help resolve problems.
Ability to organize, complete tasks and manage time.
Ability to operate a forklift.
Ability to type and use a keyboard to operate in Syspro ERP System.
