A day in the life of a Large Loss Contents Property Adjuster involves traveling to customer’s homes and handling claims virtually. You will handle escalated claims files that have complex contents. You will conduct a thorough coverage investigation of the loss and ensure the policy was applied correctly. You will be on site inspecting as well as using advanced video technology to collaborate with onsite vendors to identify damages and write a contents damage estimate. You will communicate empathetically with customers and help them through their claim process in a fast, fair and easy manner. You will negotiate claim settlements with customers in accordance with business unit standard methodologies and coordinate with structure adjusters to ensure holistic handling of the claim file. You will use data and analytics to tell a story and influence decision making.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Individuals who currently hold an active insurance license must terminate all existing appointments prior to onboarding and must not hold any outside appointments at any point during employment.
  • Applicants seeking an adjuster role who also hold a resident producer license must formally surrender that license when instructed to by the licensing team.
  • Reliable internet is required, with minimum speeds of 50 MB download and 5 MB upload.
  • Must have a dedicated, private workspace free from distractions, along with appropriate desk and seating when working from home.

Nice To Haves

  • Reside within 20 miles of Springfield, MA.
  • 3-4 years prior experience using estimating software, preferably Xactimate for complex contents estimating.
  • Previous experience handling property insurance claims.

Responsibilities

  • Incorporating a specific approach to claim handling to offer the customer their preference of communication to efficiently discuss their claim needs and keep them updated on the claim progress.
  • Evaluating and negotiating claims settlements with customers, vendors, third party carriers and claimants, in accordance with all legal and business standard methodologies.
  • Incorporating tactics in handling challenging and complex situations.
  • Utilizing multiple tools to get the job done in a fast-paced environment, including estimate tools, job aids, and additional settlement platforms, all while using sharp critical thinking skills.
  • Executing policies along policy agreements, and keeping a clear record of work in a claims system.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate documentation is completed as you work on each claim.
