About The Position

Admore®, Inc. is seeking a Printing Press Assistant/Helper for its Macomb, Michigan facility. This is a supportive role that works with the printing press operator to assist in preparing, operating, and maintaining the printing press. The role involves installing and adjusting printing plates, loading and feeding paper, mixing inks and controlling ink flow, and ensuring the quality of the final printed piece. Adjustments to equipment such as the feeder mechanism based on paper size will be required. The position also includes performing other tasks associated with the make-ready and continuous operation of the printing press, and maintaining cleanliness in the pressroom. The company has been in business for over 79 years and is the largest manufacturer of premium presentation folders and related items, offering a variety of printing and finishing services.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • A valid driver’s license is required to operate hoisting equipment.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
  • Must be reliable, dependable, punctual, and flexible.
  • Willing to work an off-shift, midnight position, with mandatory overtime as scheduled.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must pass a pre-employment 5-panel urine drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing, operating, and maintaining the printing press.
  • Install and adjust printing plates.
  • Load and feed paper into the press.
  • Mix inks and control ink flow.
  • Ensure the quality of the final printed piece.
  • Make adjustments to equipment such as the feeder mechanism based on paper size.
  • Perform other tasks associated with make-ready and continuous operation of the printing press.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the pressroom.
  • Take direction from others for day-to-day tasks.
  • Work well in a team environment.
  • Retrieve and prepare paper stock for press operators.
  • Retrieve material and products for in-house production needs.
