About The Position
This DoD SkillBridge Internship role focuses on the precision finishing of critical components for warhead systems. As a Lapping Technician, you will operate lapping equipment to bring components to specification, working under the Lapping Lead. This role requires patience, a steady hand with measurement tools, and the discipline to follow written procedures precisely. Bravo Ordnance, founded by combat veterans, operates with startup speed and military discipline, backed by venture capital to build deterrence tools. The ideal candidate is an E5 level or below active-duty U.S. Military Member qualified for the DoD SkillBridge Program.
Requirements
- Active-duty U.S. Military Member qualified for the DoD SkillBridge Program.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience operating precision manufacturing equipment, or strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to be trained.
- Comfortable using precision measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Able to follow detailed written procedures exactly, and to stop and escalate when something is out of tolerance.
- Must be a U.S. person as defined by ITAR (22 CFR 120.62), or otherwise eligible under an applicable export authorization.
Nice To Haves
- Technical or vocational training in machining or precision manufacturing.
- Prior experience in lapping, grinding, honing, or another precision finishing process.
- Experience in a regulated, high-hazard, or defense manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with reading engineering drawings and basic GD&T.
- Military experience in a maintenance, machinist, ordnance, or other hands-on technical rating.
Responsibilities
- Operate lapping equipment to bring components to specified tolerance and surface finish requirements.
- Inspect finished parts against specification using precision measurement tools, flagging discrepancies immediately.
- Follow written work instructions and safety procedures exactly, and report when a procedure does not match the part's behavior.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and manage consumables such as slurry and plates.
- Track production quantities and quality results against shift targets, ensuring records support lot traceability.
- Support the Lapping Lead on process improvement and documentation.
Benefits
- Compensation Target if hired after internship: $52K - $72K per year
