About The Position

AXIS is seeking on-call, as-needed Substitute Teachers to provide core instruction to grades Preschool - 5th utilizing lesson plans provided by classroom teachers. Partner language substitutes will provide coverage in French, Mandarin, and/or Spanish classes, as well as ELA if desired. Requirements

Must possess either a Bachelor's Degree or have received a CDE Substitute Authorization.
Basic proficiency in French, Mandarin, or Spanish (for partner language substitutes).

Nice To Haves

Prior teaching experience is preferred.
Ability to reflect upon teaching practices and respond to constructive feedback.
Proven willingness and ability to collaborate with a diverse community of colleagues, parents/guardians and community members.

Responsibilities

Review teacher plans for the day upon arrival at AXIS and get clarification on assignment, as needed.
Follows through on lesson plans provided and leaves notes for the regular classroom teacher regarding students' completion of tasks, behavior, etc.
Follow AXIS positive behavior supports protocols.
Follow the lunch, recess, duty schedules (SEL Time) as indicated in the teacher plans.
Take attendance at 8:05 am and 12:35 pm (unless subbing for a specialist teacher).
Perform any additional duties as requested by the School Principal, which are consistent with the effective and orderly operation of this position, and the school-wide educational goals.
