About The Position

AXIS is a community movement preparing students to become global citizens. We focus on nurturing bilingualism, academic excellence, and strong character in a multicultural, inclusive environment. Our students are empowered to lead with knowledge, empathy, and purpose. Substitute teachers at AXIS provide core instruction to grades Preschool - 5th using lesson plans provided by classroom teachers. Partner language substitutes will cover French, Mandarin, and/or Spanish classes, and ELA if desired.

Requirements

Must possess either a Bachelor's Degree or have received a CDE Substitute Authorization.
Basic proficiency in French, Mandarin, or Spanish (for partner language substitutes).

Nice To Haves

Prior teaching experience is preferred.
Ability to reflect upon teaching practices and respond to constructive feedback.
Proven willingness and ability to collaborate with a diverse community of colleagues, parents/guardians and community members.

Responsibilities

Review teacher plans for the day upon arrival and get clarification on assignments.
Follow through on provided lesson plans and leave notes for the regular classroom teacher regarding students' completion of tasks and behavior.
Follow AXIS positive behavior supports protocols.
Follow the lunch, recess, and duty schedules (SEL Time) as indicated in the teacher plans.
Take attendance at 8:05 am and 12:35 pm (unless subbing for a specialist teacher).
Perform any additional duties as requested by the School Principal that are consistent with the effective and orderly operation of this position and the school-wide educational goals.
