Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be willing to work weekends and evenings.
  • Must be willing to learn the three (3) languages spoken at RSIC.
  • Must be willing to attend program meetings, classes and activities.
  • Must be willing to study and examine teaching of Native American cultures.
  • Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license able to be bonded.
  • Must pass a security background check and drug test.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in language and cultural programs is preferred.
  • Would prefer someone with experience working with a language and/or cultural program.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the immersion instruction classes in all community and educational cultural settings.
  • Assist with the culture/language and arts curriculum development for in all community and educational cultural settings.
  • Assist with lesson planning and lesson preparation in all community and educational cultural settings.
  • Attend language classes to assist teachers with their duties.
  • Assist with family cultural events accessible to the community.
  • Assist will small group and group Great Basin Language instruction and cultural lessons in all community and educational cultural settings.
  • Attend staff training on a variety of 50:50 Dual Immersion systemic programming topics including: language, agriculture (medicinal, healing, crops) art & culture, conservation, education, healthcare (herbal and alternative healings originating from Great Basin), vocational training and public awareness.
  • Conduct research to retrieve historical, cultural and language information.
  • Work schedule varies based on community activities.
  • Other duties as assigned
