About The Position

This is an INTERNAL ONLY posting for current City of Springfield employees. The Purchasing Division of the Finance Department with the City of Springfield is responsible for the solicitation of a wide array of products and services. Buyers support departments such as Police and Fire, Public Works, Springfield-Branson Airport, Dickerson Park Zoo, Environmental Works, Information Systems, Health and Parks Departments and many others. The Purchasing Division specializes in the solicitation of products and services which are highly technical and complex. The Purchasing Division represents the City of Springfield to many businesses and organizations on a local and national level. The departmental goal is to solicit the needed products or services at the lowest and best price deemed to be in the best interest of the City and offer fair bidding through the RFP, IFB, IFIB and RFQu processes.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited college or university, with a Bachelor's degree in Purchasing, Materials Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or related field.
• At least one year of experience as a buyer of equipment, materials and supplies in the private or public sector.
• Responsible work experience in public or private sector purchasing may be substituted for formal education on a year-for-year basis.
• Proof of United States Citizenship/Authorization to Work in the United States as established by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986 is a condition of employment.
• Completion of the City of Springfield on-line application in its entirety.
• Candidate profile must include all employment history with accurate and complete information prior to submission.
