Landscape Crew Member
About The Position
A Landscape Crew Member assists the Landscape Crew Leader in executing landscape plans. Crew Members may specialize in enhancement or maintenance work, but must be willing and able to perform either type of work at the supervisor’s discretion. Employees are expected to carry out the company’s purpose and demonstrate its core values. The role involves landscape enhancement, installation, and maintenance work, including operating and maintaining equipment, planting and pruning, completing hardscape and outdoor lighting projects, and performing snow removal during winter months. Employees may be asked to perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Be available to work a varied schedule, including Saturdays as needed.
- Be able to work in adverse weather, including wet conditions, rain, snow, and extreme heat or cold.
- Have a basic understanding of mechanical equipment maintenance.
- Be able to read and follow landscape plans.
- Be able to pass a drug and alcohol test.
- Be able to consistently move and/or lift up to 60 pounds.
- Be able to operate the listed equipment and other commonly used landscaping equipment.
- Be able and willing to drive or travel locally if needed.
- Be flexible to work extended hours; snow-season hours may include nighttime, weekends, and holidays.
Nice To Haves
- Ability to identify plants.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record to meet fleet insurance standards.
- High school diploma or GED.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Landscape Crew Leader in executing landscape enhancement plans as instructed by the supervisor.
- Operate equipment such as commercial zero-turn riding mowers, brake-controlled walk-behind mowers, line trimmers, and blowers.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance.
- Pick up trash and debris as needed.
- Plant, lay sod, trim, and prune as required by the job.
- Complete hardscape projects and outdoor lighting work as needed.
- Complete landscape and lawn installations as needed.
- Perform tasks related to lawn and landscape maintenance operations.
- Safely operate equipment such as skid steers, mini excavators, sod cutters, bush hogs, brick saws, transits, and hand tools.
- Perform snow removal during winter months.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
