About The Position

Performs landscape maintenance and installation work, including mowing, trimming, irrigation, edging, pruning, planting, bed care, cleanup, and snow removal where applicable. The role works in varied landscaping settings and weather conditions, uses hand tools and light equipment, follows safety requirements, and communicates task progress to lead personnel. Employees may receive training and assignments across service categories and may be considered for advancement to Crew Leader after completing required training and meeting the stated performance criteria.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age and meet applicable state-mandated labor laws.
Ability to comprehend instructions and communicate task progress to lead personnel.
Ability to use assigned tools and equipment properly and safely.
Ability to become proficient with basic maintenance hand tools, including rakes, brooms, hoes, shovels, cultivators, hoses, quick coupler keys, hand pruners, hedge shears, and refuse totes.
Ability to become proficient with basic landscape power equipment, including hedge trimmers, line trimmers, 21-inch lawn mowers, and leaf blowers.
Ability to perform basic planting tasks and assist in maintaining tidy, safe job sites.
Ability to load and unload trucks and trailers used in landscape maintenance operations.
Ability to perform regular safety inspections on vehicles and trailers.
Ability to follow company policies, standards, and safety guidelines; work as part of a team; and meet production rates and standards.
Ability to work in varied positions and walk for extended periods; reach overhead, climb or balance, and handle tools and equipment.
Ability to lift, pull, and push materials and equipment; regularly lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds.
Ability to maintain the physical fitness necessary to complete assigned tasks.
Required vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Ability to work in strenuous conditions and adverse weather; tolerate occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals; and use ear protection in typically high-noise work areas.

Nice To Haves

One year of experience in the landscape industry.
Driver’s license (preferred).
Pesticide license (preferred for fertilization work).
Knowledge of Mainscape Standards of Excellence.

Responsibilities

Perform landscape maintenance tasks, including mowing, trimming, edging, pruning, and debris pickup.
Assist with landscape installation, planting, annual flower care, and fertilizer application after appropriate training and supervision.
Identify common plants, weeds, and garden pests, and recognize stressed or problematic plants.
Perform basic irrigation repairs and related tasks where applicable.
Apply or assist with herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, and fertilizers where applicable and after required training.
Use landscape maintenance and construction hand tools and light equipment safely and effectively.
Report equipment needing repair and identify broken, poorly running, or misused equipment; complete repair tags as appropriate.
Follow safety practices and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance and wear company uniforms at work.
Communicate task progress to lead personnel.
Help keep job sites tidy and safe, and properly load and unload trucks and trailers.
Perform regular safety inspections on vehicles and trailers.
Work cooperatively with other employees and meet company production rates and standards.
Perform snow removal where applicable, including shoveling and safe use of snow removal equipment.
Complete applicable service-category training and demonstrate essential job duties for potential advancement to Crew Leader.
