Requirements

  • Organization & Time Management: Effectively manages multiple assignments while maintaining organization and meeting deadlines. Maintains accurate and well-organized estimating documentation. Takes initiative by planning ahead and staying organized.
  • Accuracy & Attention to Detail: Understands the importance of accurate quantities and project information. Reviews work carefully before submitting estimates or documentation. Pays close attention to details while continuously learning estimating best practices.
  • Initiative & Problem Solving: Demonstrates a strong desire to learn and continuously improve. Takes ownership of assignments and follows through with minimal supervision. Maintains a positive attitude while adapting to changing priorities.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Communicates professionally with coworkers, vendors, subcontractors, and clients. Asks thoughtful questions and actively seeks feedback. Enjoys working collaboratively while supporting the estimating and production teams.
  • Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, or related education preferred.
  • Previous experience in construction, landscape construction, hardscape, civil/site development, project engineering, or estimating is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans is preferred or willingness to learn.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), or similar software is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and eagerness to build a career in estimating.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in reviewing landscape, architectural, and civil plans to identify project scope.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs using estimating software and company systems.
  • Assist with preparing project budgets and competitive estimates.
  • Request, organize, and compare vendor and subcontractor quotations.
  • Prepare Requests for Information (RFIs) and track bid clarifications.
  • Help organize estimating files and maintain complete bid documentation.
  • Participate in site visits to better understand field operations, installation methods, and project logistics.
  • Support value engineering and alternate pricing opportunities.
  • Assist with project turnover to production following project award.
  • Collaborate with estimators, project teams, vendors, subcontractors, and clients throughout the estimating process.
  • Perform other estimating and preconstruction duties as assigned.
