About The Position

The Construction Estimator is responsible for producing timely, accurate and detailed cost information of landscape projects by evaluating construction sites, plans and specifications. They work closely with the Sales Team, Project Managers, Vendors and Subcontractors. They compile required information, pricing and labor estimates to develop detailed proposals for the sales and operations team. This valued member of the team is an integral part of the success of the operations and profitability of landscape construction projects.

Requirements

• Experiential knowledge of the landscape or green industry
• Ability to read and navigate plans and specifications
• Knowledge of multiple software platforms including AutoCad and Adobe
• Self-motivated and possess excellent time-management skills
• Good interpersonal and written communication skills
• Detailed oriented
• Working knowledge Microsoft Word and Excel
• Strong math skills including basic arithmetic, algebra and geometry
• Strong typing skills
• Full range of mobility in upper and lower body
• Able to reach overhead
• Able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods of time
• Able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks
• Able to lift 50 pounds of weight frequently throughout assigned workday

Nice To Haves

• A Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in the Landscape Industry or a related Construction Field is preferred.
• A minimum of two to three years of estimating experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Managing bid calendar and delivering accurate and detailed proposals
• Reading and interpreting plans and specifications
• Reviewing sites and gathering information and data for proposals
• Completing plan take-offs to gather information and data for proposals
• Developing estimates and proposals for landscape construction projects within an integrated software management system
• Communicating with vendors, subcontractors and other stakeholders
• Working with Business Developers and Project Managers developing budgets, proposals, revisions and value engineering options
• Providing risk assessment and cost analysis to the operations team as required
