About The Position

OWN, Inc. is hiring a Survey Technician or Crew Chief to perform field operations alongside a licensed surveyor and other field personnel. The role is primarily field-based and involves operating surveying equipment and coordinating daily activities to complete survey projects safely and efficiently. Work includes boundary, topographic, construction, and as-built surveys that support civil engineering, private development, and public infrastructure projects.

Requirements

• Any land surveying experience will be considered; the job posting preferably seeks at least one year of experience, including experience with different types of surveying.
• Ability to work with other survey personnel and strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• A valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites.
• Ability to perform the physical demands of fieldwork.

Nice To Haves

• Proficiency with GPS, robotic total stations, and other surveying equipment, along with a strong understanding of survey practices.
• Familiarity with Civil 3D, Carlson Survey, or similar software.
• PLS or LSIT certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily field operations for boundary, topographic, construction, and as-built surveys, ensuring safe and efficient work.
• Operate GPS, robotic total stations, drones, scanners, and other surveying equipment to collect field measurements and data.
• Interpret plans, legal descriptions, surveys, and project requirements to plan fieldwork and maintain quality standards.
• Train and guide field crew members and coordinate schedules, equipment, and daily project needs.
• Collaborate with surveyors, project managers, and office teams to communicate progress, resolve challenges, and ensure accurate project deliverables.
