About The Position

Responsible for managing a program of related transmission, substation, and distribution real estate acquisition projects with budgets of up to $500M. These programs span multiple years and have visibility across SRP’s service territory and the entire State of Arizona. The Program Manager organizes and leads large, multi‑disciplinary teams representing more than 15 departments, including managers, program and/or project managers, subject‑matter experts, attorneys, and staff from across the company. This role is involved in creating and executing project plans that include schedules, activities, resources, budgets, contracts, risk assessments, and communications to ensure milestones are achieved and SRP’s strategic objectives are met.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience required.
  • In lieu of a degree, 11 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 11 years may be considered.
  • Comfort working with ambiguity and on projects with incomplete and evolving requirements in a high‑visibility, fast‑paced, team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with departments across the company, their program and project managers, as well as members of the public, government agencies, regulators, and attorneys.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills necessary to communicate, negotiate, collaborate, and manage change across multiple stakeholder departments within SRP to achieve strategic goals.
  • Critical‑thinking capability and familiarity with analytical approaches to resolve issues associated with complex utility acquisition projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, analyze, plan for, and respond to potential risks, and to make informed decisions under conditions of uncertainty.
  • Willingness and ability to continuously pursue academic, professional development, and training opportunities to enhance adaptability and develop the broad skillset required for success in this role.
  • Experience using Project Management Information Systems and Business Intelligence Systems for portfolio, program, and project‑related reporting.
  • All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor's degree relevant to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Preferred experience; project management, real estate, acquisitions due diligence, real estate or contract law, business analysis, financial analysis, regulatory analysis, environmental science, contract management, customer services, or any field that prepares the candidate for the assignment.
  • Academic coursework in portfolio, program, and project management is preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
  • Knowledge of portfolio, program, and project management principles and experience managing complex projects strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize program and project management principles, experience, knowledge, and skillsets to assist leadership and staff in prioritizing work, communicating effectively, and balancing competing interests to achieve success on complex, long‑duration acquisition projects.
  • Assist leadership, department managers, project managers, and staff in aligning program and project management approaches across acquisition projects within the Land Department.
  • Utilize project management systems to maximize value, improve communications with key stakeholders, and support achievement of SRP’s strategic and company objectives.
  • Identify issues related to scope, cost, schedule, resources, quality, benefits, communications, procurement, stakeholders, and risks across acquisition programs and projects, providing analysis to decision‑makers to resolve tradeoffs and maintain synchronization.
  • Lead the development of acquisition program and project cost estimates for annual capital and O&M budgets; assist with forecasting and reporting efforts; ensure compliance with cost‑recovery policies outlined in SRP’s Rules and Regulations.
  • Administer contracts and procurement activities required for acquisition programs and projects in compliance with SRP’s Supply Chain Policies and Procedures to maximize value.
  • Facilitate the generation of timely communications regarding acquisition programs and projects, including progress, costs, risks, and significant changes, by collecting, interpreting, and synthesizing data for internal stakeholders and potential external audiences, including public records requests, discovery, depositions, and court hearings.
  • Perform other job-related functions as assigned.
