About The Position

Provides professional care through direct lactation assessment, intervention, evaluation, education and follow-up of breastfeeding women affiliated with Danbury Hospital and in the community. The nursing process is utilized in collaboration with the Health care team to implement a plan of care specific to the needs of each breastfeeding family.

Requirements

• State of CT Registered Nurse
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program
• 3 Years of Experience
• Master's in nursing

Responsibilities

• Conducts assessment of breastfeeding dyad in an ongoing & systematic manner, attentive to the physiologic, psychologic, & cognitive status of the patient.
• Incorporates the nursing process to develop a plan of care that educates & directs the nursing staff & patient in appropriate management to achieve breastfeeding success.
• Collaborates with the health care team to implement the knowledgeable, skillful, consistent & continuous delivery of a plan of care specific to the breastfeeding patient's needs.
• Prioritizes consultation/intervention/education based on maternal/infant status, learning needs, length of stay, & available resources.
• Utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to evaluate the effectiveness of LC interventions, plan of care, & patient progression towards expected outcomes.
• Provides breastfeeding support & education to staff & patients within the Danbury Hospital & in the community.
• Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
