The Labour Board is an independent adjudicative body established under the Labour Board Act. We are responsible for the fair and efficient administration and adjudication of responsibilities assigned to us under the Labour Board Act and sections of other Acts and Regulations. Our mission is to adjudicate and resolve disputes under provincial labour and employment laws in an accessible, consistent, efficient, timely and impartial manner. As Labour Board Officer, you will play an important role in promoting and supporting positive employee and labour relations practices in the Province of Nova Scotia. The Labour Board must be, and be seen to be, unbiased and have the confidence and trust of the citizens of Nova Scotia to ensure the province has a sound labour and employee relations forum in which to address disputes. As a Labour Board Officer, you will be responsible for carrying out all duties in an unbiased, fair and impartial manner that ensures neutrality and supports the highest level of institutional independence required for adjudicative boards. You need to be sensitive to the impact that a positive and stable labour and employee relations setting has on economic and social development in the province.
