About The Position

Interstate Waste Services is hiring a Laborer to support solid waste and recycling operations. The position works Monday through Friday from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM and involves general labor, traffic control, cleanup, and assistance with vehicles, equipment, and landfill coverings. The work is performed outdoors in variable weather and may involve exposure to chemicals, dust, fumes, odors, and loud noise. The listed pay is $19.00 per hour.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Be legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Be able to work outdoors on a constant basis in variable weather and temperatures, with exposure to chemicals, dust, fumes, smells, and loud noises.
• Be able to lift, push, or pull at least 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• One year of relevant labor experience is preferred.
• Experience operating equipment is a plus.
• A valid driver's license is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform general construction activities, including shoveling, lifting, and pulling.
• Guide vehicles and equipment to appropriate areas and place signs and cones for traffic direction.
• Communicate with drivers, employees, and management using handheld radios and CBs.
• Clean up the site, vehicles, and equipment as needed.
• Drive employees to their work stations as needed.
• Fuel vehicles and equipment.
• Set up and secure wind fences and landfill coverings.
• Follow OSHA safety standards and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Perform other duties assigned by the manager.
