About The Position

The Laborer performs general construction and site-support work at a waste and recycling facility. Duties include shoveling, lifting, pulling, directing vehicle and equipment traffic, communicating with drivers and staff by handheld radios and CBs, and cleaning work areas, vehicles, and equipment. The role may also involve transporting employees to workstations, fueling vehicles and equipment, and setting up or securing wind fences and landfill coverings. The Laborer follows OSHA safety standards and wears required personal protective equipment. Other duties may be assigned by the manager.

This position works outdoors on a constant basis and may involve exposure to variable weather and temperatures, chemicals, dust, fumes, odors, and loud noise. The listed duties and qualifications are not exhaustive and may be changed or supplemented as needed.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Be able to lift, push, or pull at least 50 pounds.
• Be able to work outdoors constantly while exposed to variable weather conditions, temperatures, chemicals, dust, fumes, odors, and loud noises.

Nice To Haves

• One year of relevant labor experience.
• Experience operating equipment.
• A valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform general construction activities, including shoveling, lifting, and pulling.
• Control traffic by guiding vehicles and equipment and placing signs and cones.
• Communicate effectively with drivers, employees, and management using handheld radios and CBs.
• Clean up the site, vehicles, and equipment as needed.
• Drive employees to their workstations as needed.
• Fuel vehicles and equipment.
• Set up and secure wind fences and landfill coverings.
• Follow OSHA safety standards and wear required personal protective equipment.
• Perform other duties assigned by the manager.
