About The Position

The City of Moreno Valley is hiring for multiple part-time Laborer positions within the Public Works Maintenance & Operations Division. This is a grant-funded, at-will, temporary limited-term position, expected to last up to 960 hours. The Laborer role, under the guidance of the Lead Public Works Maintenance Worker, will perform routine grounds maintenance duties and related tasks. This involves performing routine street maintenance, cleaning and servicing street areas, operating small power tools and equipment, and providing quality customer service. The position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions and may include working weekends and holidays. Funding for this position is limited and expires March 27, 2027.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or G.E.D equivalent.
  • Ability to follow both oral and written instructions accurately.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with colleagues and the public.
  • Physical stamina is essential.
  • Handling tasks that require bending, stooping, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Demonstrate a courteous attitude.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining clean, safe, and well-serviced street areas for the community.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in street maintenance, traffic control and related duties is preferred.
  • Prior experience in landscaping or landscape maintenance work is preferred.
