About The Position

Maine Drilling & Blasting is hiring a construction laborer to work outdoors on construction and drilling-and-blasting jobsites. The role involves following job-specific instructions from Superintendents, the Blasting Supervisor, or Drill Operators; learning and applying safety practices around construction sites and explosives; and performing physical labor. Work may involve out-of-town or out-of-state travel and overtime. Starting pay is $18–$20 per hour, plus travel stipends.

Requirements

Valid driver's license with a good driving record and personal transportation; out-of-town or out-of-state travel is required.
Must successfully pass ATF screenings.
Ability to follow job-specific instructions and take direction.
Safety-minded and able to work well outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, work at a steady pace on uneven and loose outdoor surfaces, lift up to 100 pounds occasionally (5% of the time), lift 50 pounds 50% of the time, and stoop and bend 60–70% of the time.

Responsibilities

Adhere to company safety procedures and policies.
Perform construction laboring activities under direction and be able to work unsupervised occasionally.
Learn and follow safety practices for construction sites and working around explosives.
Pump blast holes dry using a water pump.
Load and unload explosives from trucks.
Carry buckets of stemming stone and stem blast holes.
Maintain a clean and organized jobsite.
Submit an accurate, signed time card to the Blaster or Foreman weekly.
Attend all meetings, including daily heads-up safety meetings and monthly Foreman, periodic safety, and job meetings as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
