Laborer - 2nd Shift
About The Position
Martin Sprocket & Gear is seeking a Laborer to support manufacturing production of mechanical power transmission components, material handling systems, and custom forgings. The role involves transporting materials, assisting with assembly, inspecting finished parts, safely handling heavy components, maintaining work areas, and following safety procedures. The position requires daily attendance at the branch and work in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with a 6% addition to the hourly wage for second shift.
Requirements
- Skilled in operating various hand and power tools in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience safely operating forklifts in a production environment.
- Able to read a tape measure to 1/16th of an inch.
- Able to perform simple calculations, read instructions in English, and complete basic logs and reports.
- Able to regularly lift, push, pull, and position heavy items throughout the shift.
- Reliable in working scheduled hours and adhering to timekeeping, safety, and operational procedures.
- Comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled environment, performing repetitive tasks, and standing for the entire shift.
- Able to work well with others, demonstrate reliability, and maintain accuracy in daily tasks.
- Able to report daily to the branch and perform the essential duties satisfactorily.

- Blueprint reading experience.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a forklift to transport materials within the plant while following safety protocols.
- Use powered and manual hand tools to assemble metal components to production standards.
- Inspect finished parts for quality before passing them to the next department.
- Move large or heavy parts manually or with crane assistance, using safe handling practices.
- Keep equipment, tools, and work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
- Follow safety protocols, including wearing required personal protective equipment throughout the shift.
- Perform other duties in various departments as assigned according to production needs.
