About The Position

The Laborer assists skilled trade workers during maintenance and repair activities and maintains the interior and exterior of buildings, grounds, and other assigned areas. The position also performs minor repairs to structures and equipment and may escort subcontractors, new employees, or visitors. This is an onsite position in Annapolis Junction, Maryland, paying $25.50 per hour.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent GED.
At least six months of experience as a general laborer or general maintenance worker.
U.S. citizenship.
Maintain the required intelligence community-level clearance.
Pass a pre-hire background check and drug screen.
Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Ability to lift 50 pounds and team lift 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

Maintain cleanliness at assigned sites by organizing excess materials, collecting and disposing of trash and debris, and sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping floors.
Clean litter and debris around offices and surrounding buildings.
Clean windows and surfaces including tile, mirrors, countertops, sinks, and toilets.
Mix bagged concrete, grout, and mortar in a wheelbarrow.
Clean office, workshop, storage, and parking areas by sweeping, washing, mopping, and polishing.
Assist skilled trade workers with non-structural demolition inside buildings.
Load and unload trucks and other conveyances.
Move supplies and materials to designated locations using wheelbarrows or hand trucks.
Collect refuse and salvageable materials.
Dig, fill, and tamp earth excavations; level ground using a pick, shovel, tamper, and rake.
Clean culverts and ditches.
Wash, wax, vacuum, and polish vehicles.
Move heavy machinery and equipment.
Drive government- or Chugach-owned vehicles to pick up materials, transport trash and debris, and deliver labor, materials, and tools to worksites.
Assist skilled workers as assigned and escort subcontractors, new employees, and visitors when needed.
Meet safety performance standards and complete all work safely.
Perform minor routine maintenance on equipment used in daily functions.
Work overtime as needed and perform other incidental tasks as directed.
