About The Position

The Laborer assists the Foreman and skilled craft workers with assigned duties under close supervision. This is usually an entry-level position and a first step toward learning a skilled trade. The work includes manual and routine construction tasks, including handling materials and tools, preparing and placing construction materials, and assisting with pipe and equipment-related work. The position is performed outdoors in changing weather conditions and involves heavy physical activity.

Requirements

Less than a high school diploma.
Valid driver's license.
Must be able to drive.
Ability to perform heavy physical activity involving strenuous work.
Manual dexterity sufficient to reach and handle items, work with fingers, and perceive attributes of objects and materials.

Responsibilities

Dig, spread, and level dirt, sand, and gravel using a pick, shovel, or rake.
Lift, carry, and hold construction materials, tools, and supplies.
Clean tools, equipment, materials, and work areas.
Mix, pour, and spread concrete, asphalt, gravel, and other materials using hand tools.
Join, wrap, and seal sections of pipe.
Perform routine non-machine tasks, including removing forms, filling excavations, placing pipe sections in trenches, and assembling pipe sections.
Perform machine-related tasks such as tamping soil and jackhammering, and assist with pipe fusing.
Comply with safety policies, practices, and procedures, and report unsafe activities to a supervisor and/or Human Resources.
Participate in team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
Provide leadership by example and share knowledge and skills.
Drive as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
