Laborer (Night Shift)
About The Position
Interstate Waste Services (IWS) is seeking a Laborer to join their team. IWS is a progressive and innovative provider of solid waste and recycling services in the greater New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut markets. Founded in 1998, IWS combines the resources of a large company with the values of a family-run business. The Laborer will perform essential job functions including general construction activities, traffic control, site clean-up, vehicle and equipment maintenance, and ensuring adherence to OSHA safety standards. This role requires working outdoors in various weather conditions and handling physical demands.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Able to work in an outdoor environment on a constant basis.
- Able to work in variable weather conditions, temperatures, chemicals, dust, fumes, smells, and loud noises.
- Must be able to lift/push/pull at least 50 pounds.
Nice To Haves
- 1 year of relevant labor experience is preferred.
- Experience operating equipment is a plus.
- Valid Driver's License preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform general construction activities such as shoveling, lifting, and pulling.
- Perform traffic control, including guiding vehicles and equipment, and placing signs and cones.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, employees, and management via hand-held radios and CBs.
- Perform site clean-up and clean up vehicles and equipment as needed.
- Drive employees to their work stations as needed.
- Fuel vehicles and equipment.
- Set up and secure wind fences and landfill coverings.
- Follow OSHA safety standards and wear required PPE.
- Perform other duties assigned by manager as necessary.
