About The Position

The purpose of this job is to perform traditional janitorial services and maintain essential janitorial supplies. Requirements

  • Knowledge of the tools, equipment, methods and practices of custodial, general building, and mechanical trades.
  • Ability to follow simple oral instructions; skill to use hand tools and high speed power tools; to perform the less skilled aspects of the mechanical and building trades; and to physically perform heavy manual labor.
  • 6 months experience in building or institutional custodial work
  • Applicant must be able to lift/carry a minimum of 60 pounds
  • Applicant must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions (Over 100 Degrees F and below 20 Degrees F)
  • Applicant must be able to work from various building heights
  • Contingent on a favorable NCIC/OSBI background check
  • Contingent on passing a pre-employment drug & alcohol screening
  • T1 security clearance (Eligibility for national security positions shall be granted only to U.S. citizens)
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Tobacco and Vape free facility
  • Serves a 12 month probationary period

Responsibilities

  • Perform traditional janitorial services to include but not limited to vacuuming carpets, mopping/waxing floors, cleaning windows/glass, dusting, and proper disposal of trash refuse.
  • Responsible to keep bathrooms cleaned to include toilets, urinals, sinks, mirrors, partitions, floors, walls, fixtures, and paper supplies stocked.
  • Maintains and monitors inventory of supplies needed to keep the buildings properly stocked and clean
  • Orders, receives and stock supplies necessary as needed to keep stock levels at proper levels, not only for normal week day operations but also to keep buildings stocked for drill weekend use.
  • Continuously monitors and inspects buildings for items requiring facility maintenance.
  • Responsible to dust and clean light fixtures and air registers on regular basis.
  • Replace burnt out light bulbs as needed.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel of items requiring facility maintenance.
  • Cuts grass, weeds, trees and brush; cleans culverts, drains and ditches; moves, loads and unloads materials, supplies and equipment; hauls or carries sand, lumber, asphalt and cement or other materials; occasionally operates forklift or tractor.
  • Assists skilled craft workers, including machinists, carpenters, plumbers, masons, electricians or welders by carrying materials and tools, picking up materials from suppliers or performing unskilled tasks, such as mixing concrete or mortar, digging holes and tearing out walls; moves furniture, oxygen tanks and other heavy equipment at an institution, building or site.
