About The Position

Tessera is seeking an active and responsible Laborer II with a positive attitude. This role involves assisting skilled trade craftsmen, operating hand tools, cleaning work areas, loading and unloading materials, and performing various grounds maintenance and repair tasks. The position requires the ability to work in diverse weather conditions and on inclines, and to lift up to 70 pounds. Requirements

  • Ability to multitask throughout the day required.
  • Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions, on steep inclines, and move on and off ladders required.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 70 pounds.
  • May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.
  • Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking.
  • Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.
  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.
  • A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
  • Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID, in accordance with the REAL ID Act.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
  • A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.
  • A Department of Energy (DOE) pre-employment medical examination and drug screening are required.
  • Candidates must meet federal guidelines in order to be considered for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Assist skilled trade craftsman by holding objects, supplying tools and materials, positioning materials.
  • Install fastening hardware, such as nuts, bolts, washers, etc.
  • Operate hand tools, such as wrenches to join or fasten equipment and/or materials, to perform simple tasks of trade.
  • Clean up after assisting by sweeping and removing left over debris.
  • Manually remove paint from fasteners or structures.
  • Load and unload palletized materials.
  • Physically relocate and temporarily fasten to overhead air hoses, electrical cables, and flexible ventilation.
  • Provide services required protecting health, supplies, grounds, and real property regarding control of insects, rodents, and other pests.
  • Cut and rake grass, using walking-type or tractor/riding mowers (less than 2000 lbs.) and large wheel barrels.
  • Trim hedges and edges around walks, flowerbeds, and wells, using hedge trimmers, clippers and edging tools includes spending large portions of each day operating a weed trimmer on steep sloped areas.
  • Plant grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs and spread bark, mulch and manure as assigned.
  • Prune shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth, using shears and other hand tools weed eaters, chain saws and brush cutters.
  • Level ground using pick, shovel, tamper and rack, shovel concrete, dirt, and snow; clean culverts and ditches, cut trees and brush.
  • Spray lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer or insecticide.
  • Water lawn and shrubs during dry periods using hose or activating sprinkler system.
  • Keep grounds free from trash, debris, cigarette butts, litter including all trash dumpsters, loading docks, patios, and grounds areas by picking up, burning or carting away daily.
  • Monitor all range facilities for debris, including sorting and removal of all expended small arms brass casings after live fire operations.
  • Repair and paint fences, gates, benches, tables and other equipment or structures.
  • Repair roads, walks, buildings, and mechanical equipment, outbuildings, mechanical equipment and other equipment, furniture, or structures.
  • Clean comfort stations offices workshops areas, and parking lots by sweeping, pressure washing, washing, mopping, and polishing.
  • Move heavy pieces of office and household furniture, equipment, appliances, automotive, medical engineering, machinery and other furniture, equipment, and items as requested.
  • Using shovel, snow blower or snowplow, remove snow and ice to maintain clear and safe sidewalks (~800 feet), two-way roadways (~1200 feet), parking areas (~200 vehicles), emergency exits, and fire hydrants.
  • Spread salt on roadways and walkways as needed to ensure safety.
