About The Position

The Maintenance Laborer performs facility and office janitorial work and basic maintenance and repair, including work on toilets, urinals, and sinks. The position follows manuals and written or verbal instructions and may involve forklift and manual-lift operation, along with other assigned work. Candidates should be able to solve problems, communicate and organize effectively, work carefully to quality and time standards, and contribute as part of a team.

The role involves physical work in varied positions and environments. Employees must be able to lift up to 40 pounds regularly, work at a workstation for eight hours a day minus specified breaks, use tools and safety equipment, and work at height using ladders or lifts. The position may also require handling hazardous waste, working in heat, noise, and dust, and working overtime with short notice.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and verbally communicate simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
• Ability to read English and metric tape measures and use measuring devices.
• Ability to perform operations within acceptable quality and time standards.
• Ability to recognize expected quality and reproduce it.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work as a team player.
• Ability to climb, twist, bend, and stoop.
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds without assistance.
• Ability to work from squatting, kneeling, or bending positions and with arms above the head.
• Ability to work elevated from ladders, scaffolding, scissor lifts, or telescoping boom lifts.
• Ability to stand at a workstation for eight hours per day, minus specified breaks.
• Ability to safely use specified hand, air, and power tools and machinery.
• Ability to operate and understand the operation of protective safety equipment in the work area.
• Required close, peripheral, and depth vision, as well as hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to handle and dispose of hazardous waste.
• Ability to work in 105-degree heat for more than eight hours per day and in noisy and dusty conditions.
• Ability to work overtime with short notice.
