About The Position

Ferrara/KME, part of Terex Corporation, manufactures fire trucks and emergency response vehicles. Maintenance laborers use knowledge of maintenance procedures, basic tools, and appliances to help maintain the facility and office space. The role requires problem-solving ability, strong communication and organization skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

The position involves janitorial work, maintenance and repair of toilets, urinals, and sinks, and operating forklifts and manual lifts. The employee works from manuals and written or verbal instructions and may perform other work as assigned. The job requires physical activity, including lifting, bending, climbing, working at height, and working in hot, noisy, or dusty conditions. Overtime may be required with short notice.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and verbally communicate simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
• Ability to read English and metric tape measures and use measuring devices.
• Ability to perform operations within acceptable quality and time standards.
• Ability to recognize expected quality and reproduce it.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong work ethic and ability to be a team player.
• Ability to climb, twist, bend, and stoop.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds without assistance.
• Ability to work from squatting, kneeling, or bending positions and with arms above the head.
• Ability to work elevated from ladders, scaffolding, scissor lifts, or telescoping boom lifts.
• Ability to stand at a workstation for eight hours a day, minus specified breaks.
• Ability to safely use specified hand, air, and power tools and machinery.
• Ability to operate and understand the operation of protective safety equipment in the area.
• Close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to work in 105-degree heat for more than eight hours per day and in noisy and dusty conditions.

Responsibilities

• Work from manuals and written or verbal instructions.
• Perform janitorial duties in the facility and office space.
• Maintain and repair toilets, urinals, and sinks.
• Drive a forklift and operate manual lifts.
• Perform other work as assigned.
• Handle and dispose of hazardous waste.
• Work overtime with short notice when required.
