About The Position

Performs a range of construction labor tasks, including erecting, repairing, and flagging. Work may involve preparing and finishing concrete, positioning and joining pipe, setting up scaffolding and supports, assisting construction equipment operators, and using hand tools to complete or remove construction work.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent years of experience.
• Appropriate training and experience.
• Ability to follow specific directions.
• Ability to perform a variety of duties that may often change.
• Ability to work within standards of accuracy.
• Ability to repeat short-duration tasks according to a set procedure.
• Ability to evaluate information using measurable standards.
• Ability to stand or walk for long periods.
• Ability to use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects.
• Ability to frequently lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds.
• Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, and other objects while carrying tools and equipment.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
• Ability to see naturally or with correction.

Responsibilities

• Measure distances from grade stakes, drive stakes, and stretch tight line.
• Bolt, nail, align, and block up under forms.
• Signal construction equipment operators to facilitate the alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to meet grade specifications.
• Level earth to fine-grade specifications using a pick and shovel.
• Mix concrete using a portable mixer.
• Smooth and finish freshly poured cement or concrete using a float, trowel, or screed.
• Position, join, align, and seal pipe sections.
• Erect scaffolding, shoring, and braces.
• Perform tasks requiring dexterous use of hands and tools, such as sawing lumber, dismantling forms, and removing projects from concrete.
