About The Position

The Flagger/Laborer performs physical labor at construction sites and uses hand and power tools and other equipment. Work may include cleaning and preparing sites, digging trenches, supporting excavations, erecting scaffolding, and removing rubble, debris, and other waste materials. The role also involves controlling traffic around work zones and assisting with the movement, placement, and operation of construction equipment and materials.

Requirements

• High school degree or equivalent educational experience.
• Ability to physically stand, bend, and squat.
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.

• Vocational school or trade apprenticeship experience.

Responsibilities

• Control traffic passing near, in, or around work zones.
• Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
• Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials.
• Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, and distribute them to appropriate locations according to project plans or specifications.
• Measure, mark, or record openings or distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed.
• Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specifications using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes.
• Tend pumps, compressors, or generators to provide power for tools, machinery, or equipment, or to heat or move materials such as asphalt.
• Use hand and power tools and equipment, including air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, and surveying and measuring equipment.
• Perform other site tasks such as setting braces to support excavation sides, erecting scaffolding, and cleaning up rubble, debris, and waste materials.
