About The Position

Precision Blasting, LLC., a division of Maine Drilling & Blasting, is hiring a construction laborer to support drilling and blasting operations. The role offers hands-on experience in the drilling and blasting industry, with training and opportunities to develop skills and advance. Work takes place outdoors in varying weather and on uneven, loose surfaces. Out-of-town travel and overtime may be required. Paid training for 6–8 weeks in northern divisions is required.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license with a good driving record and own transportation.
Pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
Successfully pass an ATF criminal background check.
Willingness to travel to northern divisions for 6–8 weeks of paid training.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
Ability to work at a steady pace outdoors on uneven and loose surfaces.
Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally (5% of the time) and 50 pounds half of the time.
Ability to stoop and bend 60–70% of the time.
Safety-mindedness and ability to work well in varying weather environments.

Nice To Haves

Construction laborer experience is helpful but not necessary.
Ability to learn and develop skills to later perform higher-level tasks.

Responsibilities

Follow company safety procedures and policies.
Submit an accurate, signed time card to the Blaster/Foreman weekly.
Learn and follow safety requirements for construction sites and working around explosives.
Take direction and perform construction laboring activities; work unsupervised occasionally.
Pump blast holes dry using a water pump.
Load and unload explosives from a truck.
Carry stemming stone in buckets and stem blast holes.
Keep the job site clean and organized.
Participate in monthly Foreman meetings and periodic safety and job meetings as needed.
Participate in daily heads-up safety meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned.
