This position assists the department with day-to-day operations and clerical functions including, but not limited to: correspondence, scheduling, meeting arrangement, meeting minutes, slide and block filing, and calling daily for documented procedures. The Transcriptionist/Secretary demonstrates flexibility and teamwork in managing the office and performing proactively with minimal direct supervision and exemplifies professionalism, leadership, and confidentiality. This position may have access to confidential employee and organizational information. Furthermore, this position may be asked to shadow and support for the Pathology department including labeling, retrieving, storing, slide scanning, and distributing slides. This position accessions specimens into the LIS, assists with frozen sections and rapid-on site procedures, changes out the tissue processors and slide-stainer when necessary, and maintains the morgue. This position rotates and discards stored materials to comply with CAP regulations. This position requires the ability to properly answer Pathology phone requests, contact other physicians, and dispatch Pathologists to special procedures. Why Caregivers Stay?
