About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Reference Test Clerk to join its Core Lab team in Holyoke, Massachusetts. The role supports laboratory operations by preparing and processing specimens for analysis and testing, resolving specimen and customer issues, routing test requests, releasing results, and assisting clients with specimen-related questions. The clerk also processes specimens for shipment to additional facilities, supports various laboratory areas, sorts, racks, and retrieves samples, and prepares record logs. The position requires working safely and accurately in a fast-paced production environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Comfort handling biological specimens.
• Ability to accurately identify specimens.
• Basic computer knowledge and data-entry skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize and multitask.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet established turnaround times.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position.
• Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.

Nice To Haves

• Three months or more of specimen processing experience.
• Three months or more of medical or laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
• Research, troubleshoot, and resolve customer and specimen problems.
• Send test requests to the proper location and release test results.
• Assist clients with specimen-related requests or inquiries.
• Process specimens to be sent to additional facilities.
• Provide support to various areas of the laboratory.
• Sort, rack, and retrieve samples.
• Prepare record logs in a timely and efficient manner.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
