About The Position

This is a full-time night shift position working on a consistent 7:00 pm - 7:00 am rotating schedule. Pay starts at $23.00 an hour. This role provides support to the Laboratory department by performing and coordinating a variety of laboratory processes. A minimum of 5% of time will be spent auditing package integrity teardowns performed by production partners. The technician will register and prepare samples for general analytical testing through data entry, and prepare and perform routine to more complex analyses per approved methods. Accurate recording and matching of results with identification numbers are crucial. The role involves operating basic laboratory equipment, gathering and analyzing information from the Inventory Management System to identify products needing to be placed on hold, and assisting with generating quality hold forms. Preparation and accuracy of standards and reagents, cleaning and maintenance of equipment and areas, and performing routine lab and department maintenance are also key responsibilities. The technician will function as the primary data generator, recording, calculating, and entering data into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Preliminary interpretations of data or observations and drafting short reports to Quality Assurance Leadership are expected. Assignments must be completed in a timely, diligent, and safe manner, adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Ensuring the quality of results involves assisting with the establishment and maintenance of Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) documents and plans, and documenting QA/QC data for reporting. Equipment maintenance and timely repair requests are essential. The role requires performing chemistry, physical, and microbiology sample preparation and testing, and efficiently moving between tasks to complete investigation testing. Troubleshooting issues with management and adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Laboratory Practices, and Good Documentation Practices are also required. This position requires the ability to work with dairy and nut products, including related ingredients and allergens. Safety protocols must be followed, including stopping unsafe acts, obeying safety rules, and correcting or reporting hazards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Required.
  • Associate degree or coursework in related scientific field.
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in the food production industry or in a related quality or laboratory field preferred.
  • Experience with both metric and standard systems of measurement required.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow documents and procedures, including Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), test procedures, and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Laboratory department by performing and coordinating a variety of laboratory processes.

  • Assist with generating quality hold forms.
  • Prepare and ensure the accuracy of standards and reagents needed for testing methods.
  • Clean and maintain equipment and areas as required.
  • Perform routine lab and department maintenance to keep area clean and orderly.
