About The Position

Hospitality Health ER is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support laboratory operations within our freestanding emergency room environment. This role is responsible for performing laboratory testing, maintaining accurate results, supporting specimen processing, and ensuring compliance with all laboratory policies and procedures. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare setting while maintaining a strong patient-centered focus. This position plays a critical role in supporting both patient care and operational efficiency throughout the facility.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Laboratory Science required
  • Knowledge of hospital laboratory practices, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements required
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining efficiency and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Current driver’s license with no restrictions required
  • Flexibility to meet departmental scheduling needs required

Nice To Haves

  • Laboratory Medical Technician (LMT/MLT) certification strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or biology preferred
  • ASCP Certification or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of hospital laboratory experience preferred
  • Experience working in an Emergency Room (ER), hospital, or high-acuity healthcare environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory patient testing and accurately report results in accordance with laboratory procedures and policies
  • Properly identify patients and label specimens according to departmental protocols
  • Collect and process patient specimens while ensuring proper use of patient identifiers
  • Prepare and package specimens for send-out testing to reference laboratories
  • Maintain compliance with all laboratory safety policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Run and document laboratory controls according to quality control procedures
  • Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instruments
  • Maintain laboratory supply inventory and coordinate restocking as needed
  • Support a patient-centered environment by maintaining positive communication with patients, visitors, and staff
  • Maintain organization, accuracy, and accountability across all laboratory operations
  • Ensure all documentation and records remain inspection-ready and compliant
