About The Position

The Laboratory Technician completes moderately complex analytical and laboratory testing in support of food safety, quality, and operational teams. The position performs routine product analyses, monitors instrumentation performance, conducts tests, records results in databases, and communicates findings. The role is within Cargill’s Food Enterprise, which serves food manufacturers, food service customers, and retailers with ingredients and branded products.

Requirements

• High school diploma, secondary education, or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Professional knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Food manufacturing laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine quantitative and qualitative inspections and laboratory tests on raw materials, in-process materials, and final products independently.
• Support more complex trials and experiments under intermediate supervision.
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and procedures for individual testing.
• Interpret and document test results in active databases and communicate results to internal customers as required.
• Perform calibration checks, preventive maintenance, and simple repairs on analytical instruments.
• Maintain customer specification books.
• Help develop food and feed safety, quality, and regulatory culture, collaborating across functions to build, maintain, and improve it.
• Handle moderately complex clerical, administrative, technical, or customer support issues under general supervision, escalating more complex issues as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
