About The Position

The Laboratory Technician position involves collecting and distributing samples, performing physical testing on production samples, and daily calibration of standard lab instruments. This role requires recording and interpreting test results, maintaining laboratory cleanliness, and keeping samples of tested product to confirm results when necessary. The technician will also maintain ongoing records of testing procedures, input data into a computer daily, and manage testing supplies, notifying the supervisor of re-order needs. A key responsibility is continually comparing test results with standards to ensure product specifications are met. The role includes sending Certificates of Analysis (COAs), notifying colleagues of out-of-specification products, performing monthly check samples, and preparing/sending samples to central and third-party labs. Additionally, the technician will verify Critical Control Points (CCPs) in the mill and perform Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) inspections in the mill and packaging areas.

Requirements

  • Maintains a neat and clean working area at all times, washing equipment as required and placing equipment in the proper storage areas
  • Maintains an effective working relationship with fellow employees
  • Performs duties in a safe manner, utilizing all approved safety equipment and successfully completes all safety certification requirements
  • Maintains awareness and adheres to all FDA, GMP, BRC, BATF, EPA, OSHA and employer standards and guidelines
  • Handles various chemicals in assorted containers in the manner outlined in the manufacturer’s chemical Safety Data Sheet
  • Informs supervisor immediately of any hazards, unsafe equipment and/or acts
  • Additionally reports immediately any accidents, injuries and near misses to supervisor
  • Participates actively in training
  • Reports to work in a condition to be able to perform all duties
  • Practices proper personal hygiene
  • Familiarizes themselves with the hazards in their work area and how to protect themselves
  • Understands that accidents are preventable and that safety is everyone’s responsibility
  • Commitment to ADM’s goal of achieving a zero injury culture; understand and follow company safety procedures
  • Exhibit regular and prompt attendance
  • Have a flexible work schedule to work 2nd & 3rd shift, weekends and coverage for other techs
