About The Position
The Xu Lab, in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Marshall University’s Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, is seeking a part-time technician. The primary objective of this position is to construct genetic mutants of Streptococcus pyogenes.

- Plasmid purification
- Gel electrophoresis
- Bacterial transformation (electroporation or chemical competence)
- Screening PCR
- DNA sequencing data analysis
Responsibilities
- Design and generate targeted gene mutations in streptococcal strains.
- Perform PCR, restriction cloning, plasmid purification, and gel electrophoresis.
- Introduce recombinant DNA into bacteria using electroporation or chemical competence.
- Validate mutant strains using screening PCR and DNA sequencing data analysis.
- Maintain clean records of primers, plasmids, and newly created glycerol stocks.
