Student, Laboratory Technician
About The Position
This position is ECB status, requiring a minimum number of worked hours per month as needed by the department, with limited benefit offerings. The Laboratory Technician collects and prepares specimens for testing, conducts routine laboratory tests, and assists technologists as directed. This role involves independent judgment in planning the sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field. The technician works directly with patients, internal and external customers, and other healthcare professionals and staff. This position is located in the Chemistry Laboratory at the Yale Campus in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It has been identified as a safety-sensitive position under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Use and Patient Protection Act (OMMA).
Requirements
- College science prerequisite courses for medical technology degree required and enrollment in the SFHS accredited School of Medical Technology.
- 0 - 6 months related experience.
- Adequate keyboarding skills to use the computer efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Collects, receives, organizes, and prepares specimens for laboratory testing.
- Performs routine laboratory testing with supervision.
- Performs and records all quality control procedures required for testing being performed.
- Reports accurate test results.
- Conducts oneself in a professional manner with regard to communication and cooperation.
