About The Position

The Student Health Center is seeking applications for a Laboratory Technician 1. This position does not provide lay-off rights and is contingent upon funding. This position will provide laboratory support for the Student Health Center. This position is an integral part of the success of the Student Health Center and is one of busiest departments at the Student Health Center.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of laboratory experience performing various laboratory procedures; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
• Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
• Phlebotomy experience (Minimum 2 years)
• Ability to obtain a State of Nevada Office Laboratory license.

Responsibilities

• Draw blood
• Ensure lab specimens and lab slips have proper labeling
• Prepare lab specimens for pick-up and/or delivery
• Perform several CLIA waived tests
• Perform quarterly proficiency testing
• Perform COVID testing and reporting
• Maintain adequate laboratory supply inventory to include stocking, ordering new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies using standard operating procedure.
