About The Position

Our projects are diverse and include geotechnical and civil engineering, QA/QC construction monitoring, drill monitoring, geo-environmental monitoring, site investigations, foundation inspections, and soil and concrete laboratory testing. Our work spans multiple industries, including open-pit mining environments and municipal infrastructure projects. This position is a full-time, laboratory-based role located in our Fort McMurray lab, with the potential for occasional field work to support project and operational needs. Requirements

  • A diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Environmental Sciences, Geotechnical Sciences, or an equivalent combination of education and laboratory experience
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Strong organizational, time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • A willingness to learn and grow within a laboratory environment
  • A strong commitment to workplace health and safety
  • Ability to successfully complete a Fit for Work assessment
  • Ability to meet drug and alcohol testing requirements
  • Comfortable working in safety-sensitive environments

Nice To Haves

  • Valid CCIL/CSA concrete testing certification
  • Knowledge of SpectraQest
  • Previous experience in a laboratory or technical testing environment
  • Previous construction monitoring experience

Responsibilities

  • Conducting geotechnical laboratory testing on soils and aggregates, including proctors, sieve analysis, hydrometer testing, specific gravity, and Atterberg limits
  • Performing compressive strength testing on concrete materials in accordance with applicable ASTM and CSA standards
  • Entering laboratory sample information and generating worksheets using the LIMS system
  • Inputting third-party laboratory results as required
  • Submitting soil and concrete test results to the Quality Assurance Specialist
  • Calibrating laboratory equipment (Proctor machines, sieves, ovens, scales, and molds) and completing preventative maintenance as required
  • Working in a fast-paced environment while carrying out assignments with minimal supervision
