Laboratory Technicians work under the direction of a staff member in an analytical, research (R&D), process and production support, or technical service laboratory or within a division technical staff group. Preparing and supporting new or established technologies for commercial products and processes that may include: Experimental materials and techniques Scale-up evaluations Analytical measurements Assisting customers with process optimization and new applications Dealing with customer inquiries/complaints Developing new formulations (i.e. fitness for use) May work directly with external and internal customers in answering technical questions Documenting experimental work and writing technical and invention reports Working safely and promoting a safe work environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Associate’s Degree / Technical Diploma in a Scientific Field OR 4-year Degree in Scientific Field preferred
  • Completed the following mandatory chemistry/scientific courses: General Chemistry I & Lab, General Chemistry II & Lab, Organic Chemistry I & Lab, Organic Chemistry II & Lab, Quantitative Analysis
  • Formal training in general laboratory procedures.
  • Problem solving, math and science skills and familiarity with statistical methodology.
  • Initiative and the ability to work in a team setting.
  • Clear and effective written and oral communication is essential.
  • General computer experience with relevant and Microsoft software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

  • Quantitative Analysis – this course can be completed on site but must be successfully completed within the first year of employment

  • Conducting technical experiments and projects
  • Leading and participating on multi-disciplinary teams
