Laboratory Technican
About The Position
Clinical Pathology Laboratories, Inc., part of Sonic Healthcare USA, is hiring a full-time Laboratory Technician in Austin, Texas. The role supports laboratory operations by processing and preparing specimens for shipment to reference laboratories and identifying specimen issues, resolving them when possible. The position is in a fast-paced laboratory environment involving biological and chemical hazards, with a focus on safety, compliance, and quality control. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., for 40 hours per week. The position has routine access to Protected Health Information (PHI). Employees receive training on safeguards and must maintain strict confidentiality and follow applicable privacy and security standards, accessing PHI only as required for their duties.
Requirements
- At least an associate’s degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
- One year of laboratory training or experience performing high-complexity testing.
- Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Responsibilities
- Process and prepare specimens to be sent to reference laboratories.
- Identify specimen issues and, in some cases, resolve issues involving specimen types.
- Work safely in a fast-paced laboratory environment with biological and chemical hazards.
- Champion safety, compliance, and quality control.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of PHI and access it only when required to fulfill job duties.
