About The Position

At Semex / Boviteq, we are seeking an individual for the role of Laboratory Technician at our production laboratory located in Kemptville. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication, time management, and analytical skills. This is a 12-month contract position with the possibility of renewal, requiring a night shift from Monday to Friday, 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Requirements

• College Diploma or equivalent education and experience
• Experience in a lab production facility preferred
• Understanding of lab production, quality control, production database maintenance and recording
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Physically fit with acute manual dexterity, and able to stand for long periods of time
• Able to tolerate work in the cold room environment with temperatures ranging from 3°- 25° C

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of the agriculture industry is an asset

Responsibilities

• Use of accepted protocols to ensure that all processes required for routine semen production meet established quality and quantity guidelines
• Labeling, dilution, fill-sealing, racking, freezing, extender-supplies, maintenance, lab collection, equipment hygiene, lab cleanliness, and liquid nitrogen dispensing
• Lab data base management and maintenance of records and lab material inventories
• Participating in occasional staff meetings
