About The Position
At Semex, we are looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our Conventional Laboratory Team. This role will be responsible for the semen production process in accordance with standard operating procedures and the Semex Gold Standard Quality Assurance Program. Requirements
- College Diploma or equivalent education and experience
- Experience in a lab production facility preferred
- Understanding of lab production, quality control, production database maintenance and recording
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Acute manual dexterity, and able to stand for long periods of time
- Able to tolerate work in the cold room environment with temperatures ranging from 3°- 5° C for prolonged periods
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of the agriculture industry is an asset
- Ability to converse with clients in English and French is an asset
Responsibilities
- Use accepted protocols to ensure that all processes required for routine semen production meet established quality and quantity guidelines
- Microscopic motility, volume and photometric evaluation
- Labeling, dilution, fill-sealing, racking, freezing, extender-supplies, maintenance, lab collection equipment hygiene, lab cleanliness, and liquid nitrogen dispensing
- Lab database entry and maintenance of records and lab material inventories
- Participate in staff meetings
