About The Position

In this role, you will report to the Onsite Supervisor and will work closely with the Avantor’s Lab and Production Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associate Degree in a related field such as: Laboratory Technology, Facilities Management, Environmental Health & Safety, Supply Chain, or Logistics
  • 2–4 years of relevant experience in: Laboratory operations or facilities support, Inventory or supply chain management
  • Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) compliance
  • Shipping/receiving and procurement processes
  • Microsoft Teams experience preferred
  • Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., biotech, pharma, academic research labs)
  • Familiarity with lab equipment maintenance and preventive maintenance scheduling
  • Hands-on experience with hazardous materials handling and cold storage systems
  • Use of inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, Avantor IMS, ChemSW)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree may be preferred in: Biology, Chemistry, or a related science, Operations Management

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate preventive maintenance (PM) for lab equipment and maintain PM tracking systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance on refrigeration units.
  • Provide basic training on common lab equipment, assist with troubleshooting, and help develop work instructions using manufacturer documentation.
  • Manage the Help Desk system, triage incoming tickets, and escalate Business Operations-related issues as needed.
  • Assist with obtaining quotes, creating purchase orders, and following up with vendors for lab, office, and facility supplies.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of chemical and biological materials in compliance with safety standards.
  • Oversee usage and replenishment of cryogenic gases and dry ice; support cold storage monitoring through software systems.
  • Help maintain cleanliness and organization in shared laboratory spaces.
  • Provide backup support for receiving shipments, notifying recipients, and managing unclaimed packages using tracking software.
  • Assist with preparing lab and office spaces and coordinating communication during onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Coordinate training sessions for specialized equipment based on licensee requests and notify the Operations Manager.
  • Assist staff, licensees, vendors, and visitors in adhering to EHS policies and procedures.
  • Help organize Safety Committee meetings and support the execution of follow-up actions.
