Requirements

  • Grade 12 diploma
  • Candidate must be able to pass Canadian Controlled Goods Assessment and criminal background check and be compliant with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
  • Exemptions to the Canadian government to grant temporary residents/international students access to their export controlled goods is required and takes a minimum of 2 months from offer acceptance for processing. This may delay start dates for candidates on temporary work permits.

Responsibilities

  • Use standard techniques to prepare samples for evaluation of specified metallurgical characteristics.
  • Set up and operation of cut off saw, mounting presses, grinding/polishing units and other sample preparation equipment.
  • Follow and accurately record data as directed or required in routers, IMS and any other production tracking systems.
  • Perform routine dimensional, hardness and ferromat inspections.
  • Troubleshoot problems as they arise and take the necessary corrective action according to standard departmental procedures.
  • Required to perform inspection of own work.
  • Required to train other operators as needed.
  • May be required to work in other departments or occasionally to set up a machine for others to operate.
  • Ability to read and interpret production prints as required by routered operation.
  • Requires adequate computer skills to access production procedures to perform the required work.
  • Responsible for excellent housekeeping and maintaining 5S in all areas.
  • Meet the skill requirements identified in the applicable training matrix and maintain certification through company Certified Operator Program.
