Requirements

  • Grade 12 diploma
  • Demonstrated competency as Heat Treat Operator or mechanical aptitude
  • Candidate must be able to pass Canadian Controlled Goods Assessment and criminal background check and be compliant with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
  • Exemptions to the Canadian government to grant temporary residents/international students access to their export controlled goods is required and takes a minimum of 2 months from offer acceptance for processing.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate and monitor all department heat treat furnaces.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process problems as they arise and take the necessary corrective action within standard departmental procedures.
  • Control of heat treat distortion through out specific heat treat processes using standard fixturing methods.
  • Micro-schedule parts through various furnaces operations according to routered heat treat specifications, to optimize furnace load efficiency while minimizing furnace downtime.
  • Manually and as required use material handling devices to move work within the department between various departmental operations including but not limited to heat treating, tempering, stress relief and annealing processes.
  • Perform parts cleaning operations as required.
  • Set up and operate sandblasters used for pre-treatment operations.
  • Work in accordance with departmental work instructions to perform scheduled operations as required.
  • Follow and accurately record data as directed or required in routers, IMS and any other production tracking systems.
  • Perform routine dimensional, hardness and ferromat inspections and calibrations as required.
  • Required to perform inspection of own work.
  • Required to train other operators as needed.
  • May be required to work in other departments or occasionally to set up a machine for others to operate.
  • Ability to read and interpret production prints as required by routered operation.
  • Requires adequate computer skills to access production procedures to perform the required work.
  • Responsible for excellent housekeeping and maintaining 5S in all areas.
  • Meet the skill requirements identified in the applicable training matrix and maintain certification through company Certified Operator Program.
  • Required to follow position responsibilities such as the requirement to remove facial hair for fit-testing and production requirements.
